HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR STERLING SILVER

WE DON’T MAKE JEWELRY THAT STAYS PERFECT. WE MAKE JEWELRY THAT GETS BETTER.

Our sterling silver is solid, uncoated, and finished by hand with an oxidation that darkens the recesses. No lacquer to preserve some idea of “new.” Each piece arrives polished and clean, and from there it is yours.

Solid silver responds to you. High points brighten against your skin, the recesses deepen, and the piece starts to look like it belongs to one person. Stainless steel and plated pieces cannot do that. They stay frozen because there is nothing in them to respond. Patina is not a defect in the material. It is the material.

Some people wear theirs dark and never take it off. Others keep it polished by storing it well. There is no wrong answer.

ONE RULE. NO SILVER CLEANERS.

The dark tone in the detail is a hand-applied oxidation, the last step at the workshop. It is what gives the piece its depth, and it is the first thing a cleaner removes.

Silver dips, liquid and paste polishes and ultrasonic cleaners are made for silverware. Many are labeled “safe for sterling silver.” On our pieces they strip the oxidation in seconds and the surface will not look the same again.

The only tool you need is a soft cloth. Ours is treated to lift tarnish and leave the finish alone.

DO

  • Wear it. Body oils are fine. Normal life is fine. Skin contact is the care routine.
  • Rinse and dry it after the ocean or a hard workout.
  • Wipe with a soft cloth when you want the shine back. Our polishing cloth is 100% cotton, treated, no harsh chemicals.
  • Store it in the sealed bag we include when it comes off for a while. Less air, slower darkening.

DON'T

  • Silver cleaners, dips, pastes or ultrasonic cleaners. Ever. Even ones marked for sterling silver.
  • Harsh chemicals. Chlorine is the main one: no pools, and no hot tubs, where the heat makes it worse.
  • Household cleaners and dish soap while washing dishes. Take it off first.

WHAT TO EXPECT

In six months your piece will look different than it does today. Darker in the recesses, brighter where it meets skin, marked where you have worn it. It will not turn your skin green and it will not fall apart. Solid sterling silver, handcrafted in our workshop, built to age and built to last.

THAT’S WHAT “BETTER WITH AGE” ACTUALLY MEANS.
